WalterFootball does a great job both scouting college players and keeping track of the NFL Draft results compared with the numerous rumors leading up to the draft. Please check out his website. With betting on the draft becoming more popular, it’s important to remember how these rumors panned out, especially when it comes to risking your hard earned dollars.
* Note- the NFL emphasized to teams, especially in the top five, not to leak out information. It sounds like a lot of information wasn’t coming from teams, but from second-hand parties, like agents. I wouldn’t be surprised if executives at the sportsbooks told them, “Hey this is the day when we take a bath from sharp bettors. Help us.” So, keep that and the information below in mind for the future. Anyway, here is my take on the rumors Walter kept track of.
2024 NFL Team Draft Rumors – WalterFootball
1. Chicago Bears- QB Caleb Williams
Rumors- None
Ringo’s comment- This one was pretty straightforward.
2. Washington Commanders- QB Jayden Daniels
Rumor- It sounds like the consensus within the Washington organization is that Jayden Daniels is the preferred choice at No. 2. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Ringo’s comment- Charlie was right on the money. The Commanders went with Jayden.
____________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Jayden Daniels is a 100-percent lock at two. – Pretty Rickey, NFL Insider
Ringo’s comment- Pretty Rickey was 100 percent correct. The Commanders went with Jayden.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Washington has significant interest in Roman Wilson. – Ken Johannsen, Hog Heaven
Ringo’s comment- They passed on Roman three times in the 2nd round and once in the third round. Instead, Washington picked DT Jer’Zhan Newton, TE Mike Sainristil, CB Ben Sinnott, and OG Brandon Coleman.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Washington is going “all in” on a quarterback and are turning down trade offers for the No. 2 pick. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Ringo’s comment- Charlie was right on the money.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- New owner Josh Harris is rumored to prefer J.J. McCarthy, while executives prefer Drake Maye. - Ballsack Sports
Ringo’s comment- They were way off, on both calls.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Jordan Morgan won’t get past Washington early in the second round. Pauline said the Commanders love Morgan. Pauline also lists the Ravens, Cowboys, and Chiefs as teams that like Morgan. – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Ringo’s comment- We’ll never know about Washington. Dallas traded down, so they didn’t like him that much. Green Bay ended up picking Jordan Morgan in the 1st round at pick 25.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Washington is really into Drake Maye. – Mike Sando, The Athletic
Ringo’s comment- Sorry Mike. They’re really into Jayden Daniels.
______________________________________________________________________________________
3. New England Patriots- QB Drake Maye
Rumor- The Patriots will stand pat and select Drake Maye at No. 3. – Tom Pelissero, NFL Network
Rumor- The Patriots are highly likely to stay at three and select Drake Maye. The Patriots would only move out if they received a crazy haul for the pick.– Todd McShay, Former ESPN Draft Analyst
Rumor- Expect the Patriots to draft Drake Maye tonight unless a team gives the offer the Patriots can’t refuse. – Tom Curran, NBC Sports Boston
Rumor- The Patriots are now expected to draft J.J. McCarthy or trade down. – Pretty Rickey, NFL Insider
Rumor- Patriots ownership would like to come out of the draft with a first-round quarterback. – Dan Graziano, ESPN
Rumor- The Patriots are most likely to stay at No. 3. – Mike Reiss, ESPN
Rumor- The Patriots want Jayden Daniels the most of all the quarterbacks. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Ringo’s comment- Most of these calls were correct. Only Pretty Rickey was wrong. Unfortunately, his call wasn’t very pretty for people who bet that rumor.
______________________________________________________________________________________
4. Arizona Cardinals- WR Marvin Harrison Jr.
Rumor- The Cardinals are driving a hard bargain to move back and are “more than happy” to draft Marvin Harrison Jr. at 4. – Jordan Schultz, Bleacher Report
Rumor- Teams around the NFL believe the Cardinals and Vikings have a deal in place for the No. 4 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Rumor- The Cardinals prefer Malik Nabers to Marvin Harrison Jr., but wish to trade down. – Mike Jurecki, Arizona Football Daily
Rumor- The Cardinals have announced that they are open for business for the No. 4 overall pick
Ringo’s comment- My belief is the Cardinals weren’t trading the pick unless they were blown away with a Ricky Williams type of offer. They had to wait and see if anyone took Marvin Harrison Jr. Meanwhile, the Vikings and Giants wanted Drake Maye and the Raiders wanted Jayden Daniels. Once Washington picked Jayden Daniels second and New England picked Maye third, the demand dried up. Neither the Giants nor Vikings had to have J.J. McCarthy for the exorbitant price to move up. The Cardinals also didn’t want to move down too far because of their need at WR and miss the opportunity to draft either Harrison Jr. or Nabers.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
5. Los Angeles Chargers- OT Joe Alt
Rumor- The Chargers are content to stay at No. 5 to draft a tackle. – Jordan Schultz, Bleacher Report
Rumor- The Chargers and Titans are the most likely destinations for Joe Alt. – Albert Breer, Sports Illustrated
Rumor- “I’ve consistently heard that the Chargers will draft a tackle or trade down.” – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Rumor- “Wide receiver is an obvious hole, but it is offensive tackle that has continued to come up when speaking to sources about the Chargers.” – Jordan Reid, ESPN
Rumor- Malik Nabers has been shopping for a house in Los Angeles. - Unknown
Rumor- Jim Harbaugh told the media that he can’t wait to build up the offensive line
Rumor- The Chargers appear to be in the business of drafting a receiver. However, it’s lying season so take everything with a grain of salt– Jeff Miller, LA Times
Ringo’s comment- Most of these were spot on. Jeff Miller has a pretty good track record of hitting the Chargers picks, but even he admitted it’s lying season. This is a new regime in in L.A. so Jeff most likely lost his connections from the coaching and General Manager changes. I felt the Chargers would address their offensive line early. That’s how Jim Harbaugh won at San Francisco and at University of Michigan. I thought the Vikings would be desperate enough to trade up for this pick. I also thought Latham or Fuaga were better fits since L.A. already had RaShawn Slater at LT and Alt profiles more as a LT.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
6. New York Giants - WR Malik Nabers
Rumor- The Giants don’t want to risk another Beckham/Toney situation. They prefer Rome Odunze over Nabers. – Todd McShay, Former ESPN
Ringo’s comment- Unfortunately, Todd was wrong. The Giants went with Nabers.
____________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Giants have been trying to trade up to No. 3 for Drake Maye. – Jordan Schultz, Bleacher Report
Ringo’s comment- Although we’ll never know since Maye was picked before their turn, I think Maye was the Giants target.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Giants are unlikely to draft a quarterback in the early rounds. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Ringo’s comment- Charlie was correct. The Giants might have wanted Drake Maye, but he was not available, so they went with Nabers.
________________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Giants covet Drake Maye. – Jordan Raanan, ESPN
Ringo’s comment- I agree. I think the Giants wanted Drake Maye. Once he was taken, they had no interest in moving up.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Giants have received lots of interest for their No. 6 pick. – Jordan Raanan, ESPN
Ringo’s comment- Sure they did. They received as much interest as I did from the Swedish Bikini team. Unfortunately, both the Giants and myself had better offers on Thursday night haha!
________________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Adam Schefter said he “doesn’t see” the Giants drafting a quarterback at No. 6, but could see them drafting a quarterback early
Ringo’s comment- Schefty was correct. The Giants passed on Michael Penix, Bo Nix, and J.J. McCarthy. Schefty might have also been implying that the QB the Giants coveted, Drake Maye, would be taken earlier and they wouldn’t be able to trade up for him.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Trey Benson is drawing heavy interest from the Giants. – Aaron Wilson, Houston Chronicle
Ringo’s comment- Perhaps that was true, but the Giants chose Safety Tyler Nubin over Trey Benson in the second round. Benson was taken by the Cardinals, early in the third round, at pick 66.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- There’s talk that the Giants will draft J.J. McCarthy at No. 6. – Connor Hughes, SNY
Ringo’s comment- The Giants passed on J.J. Maybe that was wishful thinking was from J.J.’s agent.
____________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- If the situation presents itself, the Giants will draft a quarterback this April. – Jordan Raanan, ESPN
Ringo’s comment- Translation, if the Giants can find a way to make a deal with New England, they’ll pick Drake Maye. Or, if Michael Penix or Bo Nix falls, they could take one of them in the late 1st early 2nd round.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- There’s going to be a “race” between the Giants and Vikings for J.J. McCarthy. – Jeff Howe, The Athletic
Ringo’s comment- Jeff, was way off. That was about the same race my friends and I had in college for brussel sprouts in the dorm cafeteria haha!.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
7. Tennessee Titans- OT J.C. Latham
Rumor- The Chargers and Titans are the most likely destinations for Joe Alt. – Albert Breer, Sports Illustrated
Rumor- I feel pretty strongly that Tennessee is going to go WR, even though they need help on their offensive line. Whichever WR is left between Harrison Jr, Nabers, or Odunze. -Michael Lombardi - VSIN Radio
Ringo’s comment - A mixed bag here. I originally had Alt here, but heard Tennessee was going WR from Michael and somewhere else, I forget, so I went with Odunze in my Mock which was off. Had Alt fell here, I think the Titans would have taken him But, since he was gone, they went with J.C. Latham.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
8. Atlanta Falcons- QB Michael Penix
Rumor- I feel pretty confident they’ll go with DT Byron Murphy. Head coach Raheem Morris needs a three technique. He’s coached Warren Sapp and Aaron Donald. He knows how important it is. -Michael Lombardi - VSIN Radio
Ringo’s comment -Well, I originally thought Atlanta would go Edge here. They need massive help on the defensive line. It’s hard to blame Michael too much. The Falcons with arguably the dumbest or at least, the most head scratching pick of the draft. No one saw Michael Penix going at pick 8. I think if they would have taken Penix later, even late 1st round, that would be understandable. They just paid Kirk Cousins a boatload of cash and even he was caught off guard by the Penix pick. Of course, this is the same team that took Kyle Pitts 4th overall and refused to pass him the ball- ugh!
_______________________________________________________________________________________
9. Chicago Bears- WR Rome Odunze
Rumor- The Bears have said they are open for business to trade the ninth pick. – Dianna Marie Russini, The Athletic
Rumor- “I’m hearing the Colts could move up to No. 9 if a top pass-catcher is available.” – Peter Schrager, NFL Network
Rumor- The Bears aren’t married to a receiver at nine. Tackle and edge are options, as is trading down. – Jordan Schultz, Bleacher Report
Rumor- Rome Odunze recently caught passes from Caleb Williams, who was also throwing to Keenan Allen and D.J. Moore. – Tom Pelissero, NFL Network
Rumor- “Sources say if the Bears go pass catcher with the ninth pick, it will come down to Bowers or receiver Rome Odunze.” – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Rumor- They just traded for Keenan Allen. They’re going Edge. - Greg Gabriel
Ringo’s comment- I thought the Bears would trade down or stick and pick either an Edge or WR, I went with Edge. Head coach Matt Eberflus stated how important adding an Edge to pair with Montez Sweat was. Also, the Bears only had a few picks, so I thought trading down to add a pick or two was a real possibility. That didn’t happen. Keenan Allen is only signed to a one-year contract I believe, so picking Odunze wasn’t a shock. Personally, I didn’t agree with them paying Allen that much money and then drafting Odunze who isn’t a game changer like Byron Murphy is imo. Tony Pauline was pretty close here.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
10. Minnesota- J.J. McCarthy *TRADE UP*
Rumor- The Vikings are more likely to keep 11 and 23 at this point, but they are exploring all options. – Jordan Schultz, Bleacher Report
Rumor- Teams around the NFL believe the Cardinals and Vikings have a deal in place for the No. 4 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Rumor- The Vikings “really, really” like Byron Murphy. – Darren Wolfson, KSTP
Rumor- The Vikings are aiming to trade up for Drake Maye. – Daniel Jeremiah, NFL Network
Ringo’s comment- Jordan was pretty close here. The Vikes went with a cost benefit analysis to weigh if they would trade up and what they were willing to pay. At pick ten, they figured it was worth it to move up one spot and secure J.J. McCarthy and avoid being jumped by either Denver, Las Vegas or the L.A. Rams, especially with Michael Penix off the board. I think Daniel was also right, that the Vikes wanted Drake Maye, but were unwilling to give up their first born kid to move up to New England’s spot. Note, they had their chance to pick Murphy, but passed on him to secure McCarthy.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
11. New York Jets OT Olu Fashanu *TRADE DOWN*
Rumor- The Jets’ plan A is to trade down. Plan B is Rome Odunze. Plan C is Brock Bowers. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Ringo’s comment- Charlie Campbell was partially correct. The Jets traded down. However, they passed on Bowers and took OT Olu Fashanu
__________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Jets’ decision at No. 10 will come down to Brock Bowers or a tackle. This is contingent on the top three receivers being off the board.– Rich Cimini, ESPN
Ringo’s comment- Rich was mostly right. The Jets traded down one spot and took OT Olu Fashanu.
___________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- No team I spoke with believes Brock Bowers will get out of the top 10.” – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Ringo’s comment- Well, those teams were wrong. Bowers fell to the Raiders at pick 13.
___________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Jets are inclined to draft Brock Bowers or Rome Odunze at No. 10. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Ringo’s comment- Nope. The Jets traded down and fortified their offensive line by drafting OT Olu Fashanu with Bowers still on the board.
____________________________________________________________________________________
12. Denver Broncos- QB Bo Nix
Rumor- “I know there are fans of Bo Nix in Denver’s building.” – Peter Schrager, NFL Network
Ringo’s comment- Yes there are. Peter was right. Denver took Nix with the 12th pick!
__________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Broncos are very interested in J.J. McCarthy. – Peyton Manning, ESPN
Ringo’s comment- They weren’t that interested. They could have traded up two spots to get him. They opted to stay put and draft Nix instead.
____________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor. Despite the addition of newly added QB Zach Wilson, the connection between the Broncos and Bo Nix “persists.” – Albert Breer, Sports Illustrated
Ringo’s comment- Albert was right. Denver took Nix 12th overall.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Broncos and Eagles are speaking about a trade. – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Ringo’s comment- There is no way to know, but I suspect this might have been true. I think Denver originally thought they could trade back, pick up an additional pick or two, and still get Nix later in the first round. However, the surprise pick of Michael Penix by the Falcons combined with the rumor from Peter Schrager that the Rams might take Nix as the heir apparent to Matthew Stafford might have spooked Denver not to risk it. Philly was rumored to be interested in trading up for this pick.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Broncos have a good amount of interest in Jaylen Wright. – Chris Tomasson, Denver Gazette
Ringo’s comment- Chris was, at least, partially wrong. Denver had a chance to pick Wright in the third round and passed on him. Maybe they liked him, but liked Edge Jonah Elliss more.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Broncos love J.J. McCarthy, and are real players to trade up for him. – Pretty Rickey, NFL Insider
Ringo’s comment- Uh no. They were about as real to trade up for McCarthy as Santa Claus.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Sean Payton desperately wants to trade up for a quarterback. – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Ringo’s comment- He wasn’t that desperate. Denver stayed at twelve and took Bo Nix.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- “I bet if George Paton had his way Laiatu Latu would be the pick at 12. Pretty certain Sean Payton wants to do something different.” – Cecil Lammey, DenverSports.com
Ringo’s comment- Cecil is pretty dialed in to what Denver is thinking, so this is vague but correct. Latu was on the board, but they passed on him and instead went for QB Bo Nix.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The picks the Broncos acquired for Jerry Jeudy makes it more likely that they will move up for a quarterback. – Nick Kosmider, The Athletic
Ringo’s comment- Nope. Nick was wrong. Denver stood pat and took QB Bo Nix.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
13. Las Vegas Raiders- TE Brock Bowers
Rumor- The Raiders are thought to be high on Michael Penix Jr. – Dan Graziano, ESPN
Ringo’s comment- We’ll never know. No one was higher on Penix than the Falcons who shocked the world when they took him 8th overall!
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Raiders GM Tom Telesco is enamored with Michael Penix Jr. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Ringo’s comment- Maybe he was. We’ll never know since Atlanta took him 8th overall.
___________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Raiders are strongly considering Michael Penix, a tackle and a cornerback at No. 13. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Ringo’s comment- Well, all of those would have made sense, but they took TE Brock Bowers in a mild surprise. Bowers was probably the highest on their board, but those spots would have made more sense for a team that is rebuilding.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Antonio Pierce wants to trade up for a quarterback, but GM Tom Telesco wants to stick with Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell. – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Ringo’s comment- That’s pretty close. The word on the street was that Antonio Pierce and Jayden Daniels have a very close bond when both were at Arizona State. Washington wasn’t trading their pick which left little choice for Telesco, who is not known for trading up anyway.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Antonio Pierce told the media that he wants a “damn runner” at quarterback.
Ringo’s comment- I wanted to date Christie Brinkley, Dana Plato, and Cheryl Ladd when I was in high school. We don’t always get what we want.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Raiders will be hyperfocused on quarterback at the combine. – Vincent Bonsignore, Las Vegas Review-Journal
Ringo’s comment- They may have been hyperfocused at the combine, but at the draft they were hyperfocused on picking TE Brock Bowers, especially since Michael Penix and Jayden Daniels were off the board when it was their turn to pick.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
14. New Orleans Saints- OT Taliese Fuaga
No rumors
________________________________________________________________________________________
15. Indianapolis Colts -EDGE Laiatu Latu
Rumor- “I’m hearing the Colts could move up to No. 9 if a top pass-catcher is available.” – Peter Schrager, NFL Network
Ringo’s comment- The Bears kept the pick and drafted Rome Odunze, so we’ll never know if that was true or not.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
16. Seattle Seahawks- DT Byron Murphy
Rumor- Seahawks GM John Schneider told the media that the Seahawks have a “lot to figure out” regarding the offensive line.
Rumor- Green Bay and Philadelphia have called the Seahawks and inquired about trading up for their pick.
Ringo’s comment- John Schneider has also said in the past that drafting a Center or Guard early is wasting a pick. The Seahawks ended up keeping the pick and taking the Best Available Player, DT Byron Murphy, who fell to them. I can’t blame them. I think that’s a great pick.
________________________________________________________________________________________
17. Minnesota *TRADE UP* from Jacksonville- DE Dallas Turner
Rumor- The Jaguars are calling to trade up. – Dianna Marie Russini, The Athletic
Ringo’s comment- They might have, we’ll never know. The Bears ended up taking WR Rome Odunze. In the end, Jacksonville traded down and took WR Brian Thomas Jr.
________________________________________________________________________________________
18. Cincinnati Bengals- OT Amarius Mims
Rumor- “Keep an eye on Cincinnati” as a spot for Washington WR Jalen McMillan. – Eric Edholm, NFL media
Rumor- I think they’ll go offensive line. Trent Brown is only signed for one year. Bengals beat writer Paul Dehner.
Ringo’s comment- Paul was right. Cincy went with Amarius Mims who is a solid pick. He has the most potential of any offensive lineman and Cincy needs to protect Joe Burrow.
________________________________________________________________________________________
19. L.A. Rams - EDGE Jared Verse
Rumor- The Rams are targeting a move into the top 10 with a specific player in mind. – Dianna Marie Russini, ESPN
Ringo’s comment- Well, it seemed like a possibility. I thought they wanted DT Byron Murphy, but they stayed put and took EDGE Jared Verse.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Rams are connected to Bo Nix. – Albert Breer, Sports Illustrated
Ringo’s comment- It’s hard to say, since the Broncos took Nix at pick 12. This made sense because Stafford is getting up there.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Rams have flown to Happy Valley to have a private meeting with Chop Robinson. – Jordan Schultz, Schultz Report
Ringo’s comment- Same church, different pew. I mocked Dallas Turner to them. Naturally the Vikings leapfrogged them and took him- ugh! The Rams took EDGE Jared Verse.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- I guarantee the Rams are picking an offensive player- Peter Schrager The NFL Network
Ringo’s comment- I knew this was BS. Peter was wrong. The Rams were picking at 19. They had to see how the board fell before they could make a decision.
________________________________________________________________________________________
20. Pittsburgh- OT Troy Fautanu
Rumor- The Steelers love Brian Thomas Jr. Pick 20 could be Thomas’s floor. – Dane Brugler, The Athletic
Ringo’s comment- They didn’t love him that much. They passed on Thomas Jr. and took Fautanu.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- “Speculation from people familiar with the Steelers is that Graham Barton will likely be the pick at 20.” – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Ringo’s comment- Those people were wrong. The Steelers passed on Barton for Fautanu. Barton was viewed as a Center by many NFL teams. Centers and Guards typically don’t get picked in the first round since both are devalued positions.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
21. Miami Dolphins- EDGE Chop Robinson
Rumor- The Dolphins could look to trade down if Graham Barton isn’t available. – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Ringo’s comment- OT Barton was available. Miami passed on him to take Edge Chop Robinson.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Dolphins have met extensively with Laiatu Latu. Don’t be shocked if he’s the pick at No. 21. – Simon Clancy, Dolphins reporter
Ringo’s comment- Simon might have been correct. Latu was taken earlier by Indy. Miami definitely had a need at EDGE and went with Chop Robinson.
________________________________________________________________________________________
22. Philadelphia Eagles CB Quinyon Mitchell
Rumor- The Broncos and Eagles are speaking about a trade. – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Ringo’s comment- I think this could have been true. The Broncos needed picks. However, the Falcons shocking pick of Michael Penix with the 8th pick and the rumor that the Rams might take Bo Nix, scared Denver enough to stand pat and keep their pick.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The cornerback the Eagles desire is Quinyon Mitchell. – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Ringo’s comment- Tony was spot on. Philly took Quinyon Mitchell.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- If the Eagles go CB, it will either be Quinyon Mitchell or Nate Wiggins. Those two are the only ones who fit Vic Fango’s coverage scheme. He likes CBs who can press. Terrion Arnold and Kool Aid McKinstry played zone for Nick Saban at Alabama. The tape doesn’t lie. — Michael Lombardi VSIN Radio
Ringo’s comment- Michael was correct. Philly took Quinyon Mitchell.
________________________________________________________________________________________
23. Jacksonville Jaguars- TRADE DOWN with Minnesota WR Brian Thomas Jr.
Rumor- The Jaguars are calling to trade up. – Dianna Marie Russini, The Athletic-
Rumor- On Saturday night, Rapoport listed the Jaguars as one of four teams that could be interested in moving up in the draft order to target Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze. He also spent some time with the Colts, the Jaguars, the Rams, and the Steelers,” Rapoport said of Odunze. “The reason why those are interesting is those would be potential trade up teams. Rarely do you see a huge trade up for a receiver, but not never.”
Ringo’s comment- It’s hard to say. Dianna and Ian could have been right. The Bears ended up keeping their pick and took Rome Odunze, so we’ll never know.
________________________________________________________________________________________
24. Detroit TRADE UP with Dallas- CB Terrion Arnold
No Rumors
________________________________________________________________________________________
25. Green Bay OT Jordan Morgan
No Rumors
________________________________________________________________________________________
26. Tampa Bay OT Graham Barton
No Rumors
________________________________________________________________________________________
27. Arizona DT/EDGE Darius Robinson

________________________________________________________________________________________
28. Kansas City TRADE UP with Buffalo WR Xavier Worthy
Rumor- The Chiefs are trying to trade up. – James Palmer, NFL Network
Rumor- It’s looking likely that the Chiefs will draft Kingsley Suamataia. – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Rumor- The Chiefs are expected to draft a left tackle in the first round. – Pretty Rickey, NFL Insider
Rumor- “Keep an Eye on' Chiefs Potential Trade Up for Xavier Worthy in 2024 NFL Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs could attempt to trade up in the 2024 NFL draft in order to select former Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy” Mel Kiper Jr. ESPN
Ringo’s comment. James Palmer, Mel Kiper Jr., and Tony Pauline were spot on. Kansas City traded up and took WR Xavier Worthy in the first round. They took Kingsley Suamataia in the second round. After the draft, the rumor is that the Chiefs were trying to trade up for Amarius Mims but were unable to so Prettty Rickey could have been right. We’ll never know.
________________________________________________________________________________________
29. Dallas TRADE DOWN from Detroit OT Tyler Guyton
Rumor- The Cowboys and Jackson Powers-Johnson “hit it off” during his top-30 visit in Dallas. – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Rumor- Pauline says the Redskins love Morgan. Pauline also lists the Ravens, Cowboys, and Chiefs as teams that like Morgan.
Ringo’s comment- Dallas had the chance to take Jackson Powers-Johnson, but instead chose Guyton. Guyton projects as a OT while Powers-Johnson is a Center/Guard. Dallas passed on Jordan Morgan, instead opting to trade down, and take Guyton.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
30. Baltimore CB Nate Wiggins
Rumor- Pauline says the Redskins love Morgan. Pauline also lists the Ravens, Cowboys, and Chiefs as teams that like Morgan.
Ringo’s comment- We’ll never know. Green Bay took Jordan Morgan earlier.
________________________________________________________________________________________
31. San Francisco WR Ricky Pearsall
Rumor- The 49ers have had discussions about trading Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk to move into the top 10. – Dianna Marie Russini, ESPN
Ringo’s comment- We don’t know for sure, but this could have happened. Many General Managers around the league think there’s no way San Francisco will have Aiyuk or Samuel on their week one roster. San Francisco ended up standing pat and took WR Ricky Pearsall which lends more smoke to the trade rumor fires surrounding Aiyuk and/or Samuel.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
32. Carolina TRADE UP from Buffalo who traded down with Kansas City WR Xavier Leggette
Rumor- Xavier Legette indicated that he would be drafted by the Panthers if available atop Round 2. – Joe Person, The Athletic
Ringo’s comment- Joe was pretty much correct. Carolina traded up to take Xavier Leggette.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- The Panthers are open for business in trading the No. 33 pick. – Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Ringo’s comment- This is really just semantics. Everyione is open for business. Carolina traded this pick to move up one spot to take WR Xavier Leggette.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- Xavier Legette told the media he’s visited with the Panthers four times.
Ringo’s comment- That turned out to be right. Carolina moved up one spot to take WR Xavier Leggette.
______________________________________________________________________________________
Rumor- “People I’ve spoken to believe the Panthers atop round 2 are a possibility for Mike Sainristil.” – Tony Pauline, Sportskeeda
Ringo’s comment- Nope. Carolina passed on CB Mike Sainristil twice, instead opting to move up one spot to take WR Xavier Leggett at the end of the first-round and pick RB Jonathan Brooks in the second round.
